I Found an Exception to the Rule
So, I'm sitting here at work half asleep, and I realized that the word "foreign" is an exception to the "I before E except after C" rule. Apparently, "I before E except after R" works, too.
P.S. Never drive to El Paso for a concert at 2:30 p.m., stay for the whole concert, and then drive back to Albuquerque and arrive at 5:30 a.m. the next day. If you do, you'll end up insane like I am right now.
Just thought I'd share.

The Upsides and Downsides of Journalism
Though I've chosen journalism as my major in college, there's certain aspects of the field that aren't exactly for me.
The initial reason why I decided on journalism is because of my love for writing. But, to be really specific, I love music, and my ultimate goal or dream is to be a music journalist.
The thing about straightforward journalism (straightforward meaning stories that you read in the newspaper everyday) is that you can't put your opinion in the story. Yes, the job of a journalist is to report accurately and honestly, but I believe writing is something that truly comes from the heart (as corny as that may sound).
I took two writing courses last semester, and noticed that my writing differed between the two classes. I took 271, which is writing for print, as well as persuasive writing. I received a solid A in persuasive writing, and I was a lot more satisfied with my work in that class. Herrick also noticed a difference in my writing between the two classes.
I do like the idea of columnist writing. It's all about persuasive writing and the writer's opinion, however, I don't like the idea that the goal of a column is to persuade someone. I believe writing should be free, and people can think whatever they want about it.
Like I previously said, journalists must report accurately and honestly, but I think it would be a nice twist for a journalist to add in their own opinion at the end of a news story.
